The State and National Election Petition Tribunal has issued an order for a supplementary election to take place within the next 90 days in select polling units within the Ugwunagbo, Osisioma, Obingwa constituency of Abia State. This decision came as a result of a legal case between Ibe Michael Nwoke of the Young Progressive Party (YPP) and Alozie Munachim Ikechi, the representative of the Labour Party for the Ugwunagbo, Osisioma, Obingwa constituency in the federal House of Representatives.
Delivering the judgment, Alozie Munachim Ikechi was unable to substantiate the allegations made against him, including claims of not being duly elected by a majority of votes cast and concerns regarding the validity of his election due to non-compliance with electoral regulations and over-voting. In light of these findings, the Panel decided to nullify the election, rendering it null and void.
