President Bola Ahmed Tinubu last, Thursday received Letters of Credence from 21 newly accredited foreign envoys at the State House, Abuja, reaffirming Nigeria’s commitment to strengthening diplomatic ties and promoting global peace and prosperity.
The ceremony, held at the Council Chamber, featured 17 ambassadors and four high commissioners who officially assumed their roles as representatives of their respective countries. This was disclosed in a statement by the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Mr. Bayo Onanuga.
In his remarks, President Tinubu welcomed the diplomats and pledged Nigeria’s readiness to deepen cooperation across key sectors, including trade, energy, agriculture, technology, education, defence, and cultural exchange.
“On behalf of the government and people of Nigeria, I warmly welcome you to the State House and congratulate you on your appointments. Nigeria values its longstanding friendships and strategic partnerships,” the President stated.
He noted that the presentation of credentials symbolized the renewal of mutual commitment between Nigeria and the envoys’ home countries, especially at a time the world faces increasing security, climate, and economic challenges.
“The global community faces evolving issues—security threats, climate pressures, economic instability, and humanitarian concerns. Nigeria stands ready to work closely with your governments to address these challenges and build a more stable and prosperous world,” Tinubu affirmed.
He assured the diplomats of his administration’s full cooperation, adding that his doors remain open for constructive dialogue throughout their tenure.
