The Teranga Lions of Senegal qualified for a second consecutive final with a 3-1 victory over Burkina Faso in the first semifinal of the Africa Cup of Nations.
After a goalless first half, Abdou Diallo and Idrissa Gueye gave Senegal a two goal advantage. With eight minutes to go Blati Toure halved the deficit and gave the Stallions the hope of a possible come back.
Three minutes to full time Sadio Mane drove in the final nail into the Burkinabe’s coffin with the third goal. It was a memorable goal for the Liverpool forward as it is his 29th international goal and thereby equals the all-time highest goal scorer for Senegal set by Henri Camara.
Senegal will take on the winner between Cameroon and Egypt in the AFCON final on Sunday while the loser will take on Burkina Faso on Saturday to determine the third and fourth placed teams.
