TC chairman vows to disrupt any wedding/burial ceremonies that violate Covid 19 protocol

 

The Transition Committee chairman of Umuahia North Local Government Area, Comr Lucky Akabuike has frowned at the high rate of disobedience to the Covid 19 protocol outlined by the state government, saying that henceforth, any burial/ wedding ceremonies where these protocols are violated,would be disrupted.

Comr Akabuike who stated this in an interaction with newsmen, expressed worry over the level of non compliance to the measures outlined by the state government to contain the spread of the deadly corovirus, stating that the Umuahia North LGA is intensifying reprimand processes to get total compliance to these guidelines.

He said henceforth, the council would nolonger pardon any celebrant or mourner that goes against the maximum number of fifty attendees in an event, adding that the council would not only disrupt the event but the offenders would be punished.

The TC chairman further urged Abians to use their facemask correctly and not to hang it around the neck or chin, while some do not wear it at all.

Apart from the restriction on the number of fifty attendees, Akabuike maintained that the use of facemask, physical distancing, as well as the provision of a running water and soap, are paramount if such events must hold.

The council boss, however, disclosed that the LGA is increasing the number of the Law enforcement agents that will join the new inspection and supervision team to ensure Abians comply fully to the covid 19 protocol.
