T.A. Orji marks three years in Senate amidst encomiums

It was a celebration galore as the Abia Central Senatorial zone roll out their red carpet to celebrate the quality representation of their senator, Chief T. A. Orji (Ochendo) at the National Assembly.

The event which drew notable politicians, businessmen, opinion leaders and grassroots mobilisers from the zone saw speakers after speakers extolling the giant strides and qualities of the former Abia state governor within his three years stay in the upper legislative chamber.

Speaking at the event, the state governor, Dr Okezie Ikpeazu described the senator as a mentor, father and big brother who has used his representation to touch the lives of many people positive.

Represented by his deputy, Sir Ude Oko Chukwu, Dr Ikpeazu said that the people’s representative have given good account of himself through his constituency projects and numerous bills sponsored by him and thus proved himself as a great voice and good ambassador of the state.

He therefore congratulated him on the proactive and impacting three years of stay at the National Assembly and stated that the state and zone was lucky to have a calibre of Ochendo to represent them at the red chamber of the National Assembly.

The state chief executive therefore urged the Abia Central constituents to remain supportive of their Senator reelection bid to enable him continue the good work he has been doing and support the second term bid of the governor.

In his speech, the state Chairman, People Democratic Party (PDP), Chief Johnson Onuigbo said that the people have agreed to renew the senator’s second mandate back to the hallowed chamber of the NASS.

Also the Commissioner for Public Utility, Hon Chidiebere Nwoke in his contribution said that that the gathering was to showcase to the Nation what their representative has done within a short period of time and disclosed that Senator Orji was ranked number three among performing and productive lawmakers in the Senate because of number of bills he has so far sponsored.

Speaking on behalf of local government chairmen in the zone, the Chairman, Isiala Ngwa North local government, Chief Ginger Onwusibe said that the Senator has done well and that the chairmen have agreed to continue to support him and in sponsoring football Competition in all the wards in their electoral wards in honour of a man who has done much for his people.

The Liason officer, Ochendo campaign organization, Hon Ifeanyi Umere said that Ochendo has tremendously done well in the three years of his stay in the upper chamber and described him as an achiever.

Earlier, the Chairman on the occasion, Chief Charles Ogbinnaya said that Ochendo was reaping the fruits of good deeds he has done to the people right from his days as Chief of Staff.

According to him, Ochendo was somebody who never forgets but remembers peolpe from the onset unlike others that only remember the peolpe when in trouble or when election was near and he enjoined all to continue to support and pray for him.

The former transition Chairman, Umuahia North, Alhaji Suleiman Ukandu and the General Manager, state Water Board, Mr. Leo Ogbonna enumerated the Senator’s direct projects to his constituents to include drilling of boreholes, building of classroom blocks, town halls, electrification and other developmental projects which cut across education, sport, infrastructure among others.

They stated that with these impressively score cards, the people were unanimous that he should return back to the Senate for a second term as well as return the governor come 2019 election.
