Supreme Court Victory: A call to do more for Abians-Gov Ikpeazu

Abia State Governor Okezie Ikpeazu has thanked God for the reaffirmation of his victory against the All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA), governorship candidate, Alex Otti at the Supreme Court Abuja, describing it as a call to do more for Abians.

Governor Ikpeazu who was reacting to the judgement,Wednesday,in his country home Umuobiakwa Obingwa LGA,assured Abians that the days ahead will be better and brighter adding that it has renewed his vigour to deliver more on the mandate given to him by Abians.

 

His words: ” God has reaffirmed to the whole world that this mandate is divine and because it is so, we feel challenged to do more for Ndi Abia especially for those who cannot speak for themselves, the ordinary people including the disabled members of the society.

“Therefore,we want to say that the days ahead is going to be full of activities. We promise Abians that we will certainly deliver on our promises and acquit ourselves creditably on the mandate they so freely gave to us”.

 

Ikpeazu while noting that his administration since inception in 2015 has been plagued with series of court litigations said the supreme Court Victory will afford him the adequate opportunity to concentrate and do the work for which Abians elected him.

 

He described the various court litigations against his administration as treacherous and thanked God for bringing it to an end.

 

“My journey since 2015 had been a treacherous journey. I still remain the only Governor in Nigeria who was removed twice and is still sitting as governor. During my last tenure between 2015 and 2019, we were in court for three years out of the four years.

“I am aware that some seek redress in courts for many reasons. Others seek to enrich their jurisprudence in terms of election matters, others seek redress inorder to ventilate their grievances but yet, the third group seek redress just to confuse, distract and put a cog in the wheel of progress of our state.

 

“Whatever be the reason for this treacherous long journey, I thank God it has come to an end today”.

Governor Ikpeazu thanked the judiciary for the reforms which has brought an end to the court litigations within seven months of his swearing in for a second tenure as governor of the state adding that it had reinforced his belief that the judiciary are indeed the last hope of the common man.

He equally thanked Abians especially church leaders, traditional rulers,women and major stakeholders in Abia polity for their sustained faith and support to his administration.
