SUG Presidents Of Abia Institutions Pass Vote Of Confidence On Gov Ikpeazu

 

 

 

The Coalition of Authentic Students Union Leaders of Higher Institutions in Abia State have passed a vote of implicit confidence on Governor Okezie Victor Ikpeazu for priotizing quality education in the State.
The students made their position known in a press statement jointly endorsed by the Student Union Government Presidents of the Eight Higher Institutions in the State and read by the SUG President of Abia State Polytechnic Aba, Comrade Stanley Nwankpa.

 

 

The students leaders condemned in strong terms, moves by some sections of the Abia State political class to politicize the current development of the Abia State Polytechnic, Aba to demarket the state.

 

 

They noted with sadness, the statement made by the Head, Media Department, National Board for Technical Education (NBTE), Fatima Abubakar, that the accreditation of Abia State Polytechnic was withdrawn on account of salary related issues.

The students said they were shocked that inspite of the huge financial investments of a cumulative sum of over 7.1 Billion Naira as monthly subvention and Loan Pay-Offs by the Abia State Government under Governor Okezie Ikpeazu in favor of Abia State Polytechnic from July 2015 to May 2022 together with the enormous Internally Generated Revenue accruing to the Polytechnic, the board and management of the polytechnic failed to put the funds to judicious use.

 

The students leaders called on their fellow students to eschew all incitements and disregard the purported Press Conference of some impostors masquerading as students as non of the funny characters belong to any recognised Executive of the Students Union Government of any Institution in Abia State.

 

They said as stakeholders in the Education Sector and leaders of the students’ community that they have swiftly engaged all stakeholders to inquire the real position of the things regarding reasons the impasse has degenerated to denial of accreditation to Abia state polytechnic Aba.
The students Union leaders expressed confidence that the six- man committee set up by Governor Okezie Ikpeazu will in addition to seeing to the restoration of the lost accreditation of Abia state polytechnic,  unravel how the funds duly released to the polytechnic were spent.
The body however, encouraged Governor Okezie Ikpeazu to sustain his unflinching love and support to Abia students and tremendous support to the development of education in the state.
