The Obingwa-West School Debate Contest 2025, sponsored by the Chairman of the House Committee on Public Service, Abia State House of Assembly, Erondu Uchenna Erondu Jnr, has reached the semi-final stage following the conclusion of the preliminary rounds, which delivered a mix of closely contested victories and unexpected outcomes.
The maiden edition of the tournament, which attracts secondary schools from across the region, is designed to promote academic excellence, teamwork, and healthy competition among students.

In one of the key matches, Amaise Community Secondary School, Ukpakiri, led by Master Monday WithGod, scored 396 points (66%) to narrowly defeat Akanu Community Secondary School, captained by Chima Goodness Amarachi, which tallied 383 points (63.8%). Meanwhile, Ahiaba High School, under Miss Innocent Maanah, scored 393 points (63.4%) to overcome Umuaro Community Secondary School, which managed 256 points (42.6%).
Comprehensive Secondary School, Mgboko Itungwa, led by Miss Iheukwumere Goodgift Chinaza, also secured a semi-final berth by defeating Holy Family Secondary School, led by Miss Chiemela Happiness, with 377 points (62.8%) against 349 points (58.1%). In a surprising turn, Osusu Amaukwa Community Secondary School advanced automatically after Osaa Ukwu Community Secondary School declined to participate despite repeated invitations.

The upcoming semi-finals today (December 5, 2025) promise thrilling encounters: Amaise Community Secondary School will face Osusu Amaukwa Community Secondary School, while Comprehensive Secondary School, Mgboko Itungwa, will clash with Ahiaba High School.
Speaking ahead of the semi-finals, Master Monday WithGod expressed confidence in his team.

Similarly, students from Comprehensive Secondary School reiterated their determination to excel.
As the competition heats up, organizers and spectators eagerly anticipate displays of intellect, strategy, and teamwork from these talented students, all vying for the coveted championship trophy/prizes.
