Stop laying claim to school feeding programme, APC faults Abia government on

The All Progressives Congress, APC, in Abia state on Monday advised the Governor Okezie Ikpeazu-led administration to desist from laying claim to the ongoing feeding programme being run in schools in the state.

The chairman of APC Elders Council in the state, Chief Godfrey Onyemaobi gave the warning in Umuahia, the state capital while reacting to the sponsorship claim by the Abia state government in the school feeding programme.

It said the feeding programme was purely an initiative of the APC-led federal government.

He explained that the feeding programme recently introduced in schools in the country was the project of President Muhammadu Buhari, dismissing the impression that the programme was that of the wife of the governor, Nkechi Ikpeazu.

His words: “Saturday morning, I heard Abia state government saying on radio that the school feeding programme being handled by the wife of the governor, is the project of the state government. That kind of impression is wrong. Everybody in Nigeria knows that the school feeding programme is the project of the federal government. The federal government pays for the whole things, using the state government to execute it”.

“So no state including Abia should take credit for that feeding programme. It is the project of APC led federal government. So I want Abians to know the truth from falsehood”.

” The school feeding programme is being sponsored by the Federal government by President Muhammadu Buhari. It has never been a project of any governor. That emphasis should laid”.

Onyemaobi also blasted federal lawmakers from Abia state for trying to take credit for the rehabilitated Umuahia/Ikot Ekpene road, saying it was APC-led federal government project.

“The rehabilitated Ikwuano, Umuahia/Ikot Ekpene road is a federal government pro ject and reconstructed by the federal government, not PDP government or by the federal lawmakers from the state. If the federal lawmaker (Hon.Onuigbo) is laying credit it, I don’t know and in which capacity. Is it from his own pocket or from the state government pocket? It is federal government project as well.
