State of emergency on environmental sanitation: Abia govt commences daily collection of waste.

Abia state government has announced that the Street by Street Collection of Waste in Aba and it’s environs will henceforth commence from 5pm on a daily basis.

This is following the state of emergency declared by the state government on environmental sanitation in some parts of the state.

A release signed by the Chief Press Secretaey to the governor,Onyebuchi Ememanka says the only approved collection point for wastes is the ASEPA approved buckets placed at strategic points.

According to the release,indiscriminate disposal of refuse shall no longer be allowed as anyone caught disposing refuse outside those buckets will be arrested and prosecuted.

It further adds that the Governor,Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu has also approved the appointment of Hon. Iheanacho Wagbara, Promise Iheasimuo and Emeka Kanu (Akparawa) as the Waste Manager and Deputy Waste Manager and member respectively for Ugwunagbo LGA.
