Michael Okpara University of Agriculture Umudike, (MOUAU) and Institute of Chattered Accountant of Nigeria (ICAN) have reiterated their commitment towards restoring the delisted undergraduate Accounting Programme of the university and explore other areas of mutual interest.
The assurance came when the Chairman, Mutual Cooperation Agreement with Tertiary Institutions (MCATI) and Students Affairs Committee, at the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN), Chief Oye Akinsulire, paid a courtesy visit to the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Maduebibisi Ofo Iwe recently.
Speaking during the visit, Chief Akinsulire stated that ICAN and MOUAU have had a cordial relationship for almost seven years and that the visit was aimed at strengthening the existing relationship.
Speaking further, the ICAN Committee Chairman disclosed that MOUAU is one of the 26 Universities accredited by ICAN, assuring that the institute will support her in restoring her delisted undergraduate programme in Accounting.
Chief Akinsulire also seized the opportunity of the visit to inform the VC about the ICAN annual conference coming up in November, and appealed to the management to support her staffs who is ICAN members to attend.
Responding, Prof. Madu Ofo Iwe thanked ICAN for their support, expressing hopes that the University’s undergraduate Accounting programme will be restored with the support of ICAN.
The VC noted that the University is committed to the institute’s annual conference, adding that necessary approvals have been made for concerned staff to attend this year’s edition.
