The Secretary to the Abia State Government (SSG), Professor Kenneth Kalu, has reiterated the state government’s commitment to fostering peace, unity, and sustainable development across communities in the state.
Professor Kalu made this known during a peace dialogue he convened between the people of Ndi Ebe Abam and Ndi Ojiaku Abam in Arochukwu Local Government Area, who have been involved in a longstanding boundary dispute.
Addressing leaders of both communities, the SSG emphasized that peaceful coexistence remains a fundamental pillar for meaningful progress. He urged the parties to resolve their differences through constructive dialogue and mutual understanding, warning against actions that could escalate tensions into violence.
He further called on traditional rulers and stakeholders to caution their members against taking the law into their own hands, assuring that the government is committed to ensuring a fair and lasting resolution to the dispute.
In their separate remarks, the Eze of Ndi Ebe Abam, Chief Okeko Arunsi; the Eze Ogo of Ndi Ojiaku, Eze Ogo Ota Ola; and the President General, Mr. Ikwan Uka, commended the SSG for initiating the peace process. They also pledged their communities’ readiness to embrace dialogue and support government efforts to achieve an amicable settlement of the boundary issue.
