SSG, Commissioner, Others, Celebrate Abia @31

 

As Abia State continues to celebrate her 31 years of statehood, the Secretary to the State Government, Barr. Chris Ezem has described the state as one of the most peaceful, safest and political stable state in Nigeria.

Ezem, who was speaking to Newsmen at the International Conference Center, Umuahia, venue of the Grand finale of a week long activity to mark the celebration of Abia @31 said the state is worth celebrating by all Abians as it has witnessed robust transformation in all sectors of its economy.

 

 

He said the giant strides recorded especially in areas such as infrastructural development, improved health care delivery, youth empowerment, Security, Agriculture, SMEs, Education, Housing among others are eloquent testimonies that the present administration’s commitment in rebuilding the state for the good of all.

The SSG while noting that Abia is a work in progress, said the state has continued to grow in leaps and bounds and encouraged Abians and residents alike to join hands with the leadership of Governor Okezie Ikpeazu in taking the state to its vintage heights.

 

He used the occasion which coincides with the birthday celebration of the wife of Abia state Governor, Dcn Nkechi Ikpeazu, to thank the Abia First Lady for being a pillar of support to the Governor and for all the achievements of Vicar Hope Foundation and wished her more prosperous years ahead.

 

Also speaking, the Commissioner for Works, Elder Bob Ogu said that Abia has continued to grow in line with the vision of her founding fathers and commended the gallant efforts of Abia founding fathers in encapsulating the contents of Abia Charter of equity which he said has promoted peace, justice and fairness.

Ogu, stated that Abia has recorded giant strides in all facets of her economy with the adminstration of Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu constructing and reconstructing over 80% of roads in Aba adding that before the end of the present adminstration, the master plan for Aba,Ohafia and Umuahia would have been realized with other ongoing road projects completed.

 

 

He described the conviviality prevailing among the political class as an eloquent testimony that Abia is a work in progress and expressed optimism that the state would get to her promised land.

 

In his contribution, the President, Aba Chamber Of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture, Chief Jerry Kalu while congratulating Abians on the 31st Anniversary of statehood urged the Federal Government to consider the total reconstruction of Port Harcourt /Obigbo road to aid commercial activities between Abia and it’s neighboring states.
