Sports Commissioner charges Super Eagles

The Abia state commissioner of Sports, Mr. Martins Okoji has urged the Super Eagles to avoid any behavior that could disqualify them and maintain discipline if they must win the World cup.

The Commissioner who stated this while expressing optimism that the Eagles would win the cup, said for the team to truly actualise their dream, they must shun any behavior that could impede success and ensure they obey laid down rules and regulations.

Dr Okoji went further to advice the team to embrace team spirit as they play their next match with Iceland on Friday, remain tactful and confident in themselves, pointing out that these are some of the edges the European teams have over others.

He said the European and other continental teams perceive the Africa continent and their teams as underdeveloped, and they employ all gimmicks and politics to short line Africa.

The Sports boss disclosed that the Nigerian Football Federation (NFF), has done their part of tackling any challenge that could impede a successful outing at the world cup, and enjoined the players to do their best by bringing the cup home.

He said Abia is the only state in the federation sponsoring two football clubs, as well as supporting other sporting activities like Badminton, adding that currently, the governor is investing heavily to develop the Enyimba stadium to a world standard. He stressed, these form part of the reasons why they want the governor to return in 2019, so he can give more development to sports in the area.

He, however, wished the Eagles success and encouraged them not to lose focus in the tournament, saying more seriously should be employed in their next match.
