Leaders of the South East Geo-Political zone have met with the Abia state Governor, Okezie Ikpeazu over the establishment of the Igbo Stabilization Fund which will assist in the growth of the region.
The fund, envisioned as a key instrument to mobilize resources is aimed at addressing the infrastructural deficit and developmental gap in the South East zone.
President General, Ohaneze Ndigbo Worldwide, Chief John Nnia Nwodo, who met with Governor Ikpeazu in company of Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu and the Obi of Onitsha, Alfred Nnaemeka Achebe at the Presidential Lodge, Government House Umuahia,stated that the team was in Abia State to discuss key issues affecting the Igbo nation.
Speaking after a closed door meeting with the Governor, Nwodo described Governor Ikpeazu as a champion of the promotion of indigenous entrepreneurship.
He said the efforts of the Governor in the promotion of the productive ingenuity of Ndigbo is trailblazing adding that the Igbo nation is proud of his efforts.
The Ohaneze Ndigbo Leader while noting that Aba is a home for Ndigbo,commended the Governor for providing an enabling environment for the people to showcase their prowess in manufacturing and economic activities, saying that the people of the South East zone will remain grateful to the governor.
He advised the people of Abia State to continue to support the administration of the Governor.
In his contribution, the Chairman of the Ohaneze Ndigbo Council of Elders, Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu thanked the Governor for the warm reception accorded the delegation and for his untiring efforts in the area of promoting indigenous economic development.
Also speaking, the Obi of Onitsha, Alfred Nnaemeka Achebe, assured Governor Okezie Ikpeazu that history will be kind to him for the impetus he continues to provide for Ndigbo to chart new courses in economic development.
According to him, Governor Ikpeazu has pushed the narrative of locally produced goods to the front burner of national discourse.
Achebe, thanked God for sparing the life of the Governor from the COVID-19 pandemic.
