Sir Orji James Nwoke Laid To Rest Amidst Tributes

 

The remains of late Sir Orji James Nwoke, husband of the Director of Information, Abia State High Court, Lady Chika Orji-Nwoke has been laid to rest at his compound in Ndi Osisi Ogwu Eziukwu Ibinaukwu, Igbere in Bende LGA of the State amidst eulogies from family, friends and well wishes.

Aged 65, Late Sir Orji James Nwoke, was survived by his wife, four children and host of other relatives.

The burial ceremony attracted the presence of the Chief Judge of Abia State, Justice Lilian Abai, Chief Registrar, Abia State High Court, Mrs Victoria Okey Nwokeukwu, former Permanent Secretaries,Deacon Uzoma Isiakpu, Mr. Charles Ifenkwe, Chairman, Nigeria Union of Journalists, Abia State Council, Comrade Victor Ndukwe, an array of clergymen, members of the Nigeria Union of Journalists and the NIPR among many dignitaries.

Preaching during the funeral service conducted by the Anglican Church Of The Living Word, Igbere, at Onu Ibina Primary School, the Bishop, Anglican Dioceses of Umuahia, Rt. Rev. Geoffrey Ibeabuchi challenged christians to be circumspect on what they do with their time.

 

Rt. Rev. Ibeabuchi, who preached on the topic, “Times and Seasons”, said that the time of salvation is now as anyone who misuses his time and fails to acknowledge God would regret at the last day. He said that everybody is like a seed planted in a farm, which has no control of its harvest day, so is everyone in the sight of God and made a call for surrendered Christian life.

The servant of God, who stressed the need for preparation of one’s mind for death, appreciated the commitment of Late Sir Orji Nwoke and urged the immediate family and all concerned to bear the death with fortitude.

In her tribute, the wife of the deceased and Director of Information, Abia State High Court described her late husband as one in a million, whose unconditional love and care would be greatly missed. She prayed God to help her and the entire family to endure the irreparable loss as well as grant the soul of her husband eternal rest.

Reading the funeral oration, the first son of the deceased, Architect Nnanna Orji-Nwoke said that his late father was a straight forward person and strong advocate of community mobilization and development.

 

He said his father’s devotion to God made the church to confer on him the Knight of St. Augustine the Hippo in the year 1995 and continued to serve God faithfully until his demise.
