A Non Governmental Organization (NGO), the Pacesetter of Ogoni Nation has cautioned students against engaging in examination malpractice, drug abuse and gang violence.
The governor of Pacesetter of Ogoni Nation Elvis Ekonma in an interview with our reporter on the sideline of an event in Bori, Khana Local Government Area, described examination malpractice, drug abuse and gang violence as theft of destiny.
Elvis Ekonma further stress that when you are engaged in all these things, it will definitely interfere in your dream to become whatever you aspire to be.
He therefore advice students to be careful with peer influence and shouldn’t engage in any of these vices. Adding that it should always ring automatically in their mind that drug abuse and exam malpractice are thieves of destiny.
The governor of Pacesetter of Ogoni Nation Elvis Ekonma also emphasized the need for students to have access to career guidance and counselor who will support them in making the right choices.
He further explained that it is needful for schools to have career guidance and counselor because young people mix all kinds of profession and they have dream about so many profession at the same time.
He also said that when you measure their academic strength with their choice or fancy, you will guide them to say No, based on the subject combination they are good in. He said there is need for students to be advised and informed on areas they can be good in.
According to Mr Ekonma, a lot of students are doing the curses they fantasize about, which they do not have the capacity to do, and it leads to academic frustration, and as a result, a lot of student drop out from the University. Adding that guidance and counselor takes away frustration.
