Senate Confirms Halima Shehu As CEO, NSIPA

The Senate has confirmed Mrs. Halima Shehu as the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the National Social Investment Programme Agency, (NSIPA).

 

President Tinubu had on September 18th,2023, appointed Mrs. Shehu as the head of the agency, but subject to Senate confirmation Which the Senate confirmed this Wednesday during plenary.

 

The National Social Investment Programmes Agency (Establishment) Act, 2023, was signed into law on May 22nd, 2023.

Born in kafin Dagi Village, katsina ,,katsina State.

She had her First School Leaving Certificate.

Shehu has her secondary school education, where she obtained a West Africa Examination certificate at the federal government college Kaduna State.

Obtained Ahmadu Bello University Zaria, Kaduna State where she got a degree in English Language.

Got her Master’s degree in International Affairs and Diploma from ABu Zaria.

Served her National Youth Service Corps at the Afri-project Consortium under the Petroleum Trust Fund.

Her 10,-year banking career started with the former Intercity Bank and then proceeded to Unity and Access Banks.

Shehu works as the head of several banking units, including the cash, finds transfer, clearing, reconciliation, operations and coordination units, across all three banks.

Joined politics in 2010. 2011 appointed as a Senior Special Assistant to a former governor of Kaduna state and also served as a member of the state’s Internal Revenue Board.

She also worked as the National Coordinator of the conditional cash transfer programme, where she used her career expertise to see to the digitalisation of the programme.
