SEMB suspends sale of Annual Appraisal Forms

The executive secretary Secondary Education Management Board (SEMB), Abia state, Sir Lawrence Ogbonna says the board has suspended the sale of secondary school teachers Annual Appraisal Promotion Forms.

Sir Ogbonna disclosed this while interacting with our correspondent in his office in umuahia.

Recall that in April, some secondary school teachers in Abia state had decried the exorbitant fee of N4,500 fixed by the board for collection of promotion forms in addition to several months of salaries owed them.

But the state commissioner for education did not go down well with the price tag of the form.

The executive secretary told our correspondent that one month salary was paid in April, and promised that another one will be paid this month of May.

Ogbonna said that the governor has promised to clear the arrears, and added that the state commissioner for education, Professor Ikechi Mgbeoji would give final decision after they collectively calculate how much the expenses for promotion forms will cost.

Lending his voice, the state commissioner for education, Ikechi Mgbeoji confirmed to our correspondent that he had intervened into the matter.

According to Mgbeoji, price for the form should not exceed five hundred naira, considering that secondary school teachers are been owed several months of salaries.
