In his avowed commitment to rid Abia State of all forms of crime and criminality, Governor Okezie Ikpeazu has handed over twenty brand new security vans to security agencies in the state with the assurance of an additional ten security vehicles to be distributed next week.
Performing the ceremony at Government House Umuahia,Governor Ikpeazu said the gesture underscores the importance his administration attaches to the issue of security of lives and properties in the state.
He noted that no meaningful development can thrive in the absence of peace and security adding that issues of security remains at the front burner of his administration in its strive to compliment efforts of the federal government in tackling the rising spate of crimes.
Governor Ikpeazu pointed out that his vision is to create the required ambience that will attract both local and foreign investments into the state.
While expressing hope that the gesture will help lead to mass reduction in crime across the state, Governor Ikpeazu
tasked security agencies on the need to nip in the bud issues of cultism, armed robbery, banditry, kidnapping and other crimes,urging them to utilize the vehicles judiciously.
He commended the various security agencies in the state for for their efforts in ensuring security of lives and properties of the citizenry.
Receiving the keys of the vehicles on behalf of other security agencies in the state, Abia State Commissioner of Police, Ene Okon, while thanking the governor for the gesture assured that the various security agencies will utilize the vehicles for the purpose which they were given.
