A security analyst Charles Inko- Tariah says the existing gap in information gathering between the people and security agencies is responsible for insurgency in the country.
Charles Inko-Tariah in an interview with our reporter said the order by acting inspector general of police for the withdrawal of senior police officer from the EFCC and other government agencies shows that Nigeria lacks personnel to paddle insurgency.
The security analyst further said that the decision to withdraw police personnel from EFCC by the IGP to an extent is an advantage to EFCC, because it is an opportunity for the commission to recruit and train more operatives at the EFCC cadet training school, with the basic technicalities and expertise as a financial crime organization, to properly cover their mandate.
He further stressed that the withdrawal of police officers to tackle insurgency in the North is laughable because the insurgency in the North is largely successful because of the existing gap between the people and the security agents. Adding that, bandits are taking advantage on the above gap and the empathy they enjoy from the people.
Charles Inko-Tariah however, said that domestic intelligence and holistic citizen participation is the best approach to tackle insurgency in the country.
The security analyst further advised the Inspector General of Police (IGP) to look beyond or outside the box to create more people oriented security strategies in order to integrate the communities into the security architecture, to fast track intelligent sharing between the people and the security agents in order to preempt the need on the board.
