Schools in Umuahia set to reopen today

 

The Umuahia North Local Government Area, has shown that it is ready to return pupils and students in the locality back to school today, having met with the comprehensive guidelines for resumption.

Reports gathered showed that the LGA was fully prepared for the Aug 10, resumption, as the whole schools in the area,both primary and secondary have been cleared, as well as fumigated.

Interacting with the HOD Environmental Health, Lady Chinyere Okplor , said the schools in the area are now safe for the pulpils/students to return.

Lady Okplor narrated how they have been on the field for days to ensure they meet up with the slated date for resumption by the government and thanked God for seeing her team through the exercise.

She said because of the importance of hygiene at this time, schools should be fumigated from time to time to further safeguard the health of the Abia child.

While thanking the governor, Dr Okezie Ikpeazu for his tireless efforts in protecting the lives of Abians from the deadly scourge, commended the Transition Committee chairman for Umuahia North,Hon Lucky Akabuike, for his doggedness in pursuing the vision of the governor and making sure that the LGA do not lag behind.

Meanwhile,the TC chairman of the Local Government,Comr Lucky Akabuike,stated that the initiative to make schools safe can only come from a passionate and caring leader,who would not want harm or danger for its citizenry.

Akabuike said that he had inspected all the schools in the council area to ensure they go through the exercise of clearing/fumigation, as well as meet all the covid 19 guidelines.

He disclosed that he had equally met with the teachers of the whole 62 Primary schools and 45 Secondary schools in the area, soliciting for their support,adding that the local government can boldly say that the schools in the area are now safe for resumption.
