Scholarship:Gov Ikpeazu Lauded For Investment In Capacity Building

 

 

Executive Secretary of the Abia State Scholarship Board, Mr Chukwuka Daniel has commended Governor Okezie Ikpeazu for placing premium on Education by including it in his administration’s key pillars of development as well as resuscitating the board to train youths in capacity building activities.

 

Chukwuka who stated this during an interactive session with Journalists in Umuahia, described capacity building as an important component of any meaningful government, adding that the present administration’s priority is to empower Abia youths with quality education in addition to preparing them for the challenges in the days ahead.

 

He expressed hope that Abia scholarship recipients would impart positively on the economic growth of the state and Nigeria at large as well as bridge the gap in various specialised fields lacking in the society.

“Scholarship recipients on completion of their programmes would be availed the opportunity to work with the state government for a period of five years to train other staff of government in specialised areas such as Information Technology, Engineering, Renewable Energy among others.

 

“The vision of Governor Ikpeazu is trans-generational and would pay off in the long run”.

 

While presenting a scorecard on the successes and challenges of the Scholarship Board, Chukwuka said the board has broken grounds in providing quality education for students.

 

 

He disclosed that the state government has so far procured visas for scholarship recipients adding that over 60 qualified students of Abia origin are currently studying in various universities abroad including the Torress University, Capland Business School and the University of New England among others.

The Executive Secretary,Abia State Scholarship Board, said that the board is currently working on other beneficiaries while those whose visas are ready would soon depart for Australia and India by April this year to study Information Technology and other high level courses.

 

Chukwuka,informed that the board is equally engaged in scholarship activities for Abia students in various universities across Nigeria as well as in the Secondary School Level across the 17 local government areas of the state.

 

He therefore encouraged Abians to avail themselves the opportunity to be part of the programme saying, “every Abian have the right to be part of this scholarship scheme. Our mandate is to give scholarship to over 100 Abians each year and we have done alot in that regard”.
