The people of Obehie Asa community in Ukwa West LGA, Abia State have passionately call on Governor Alex Otti, and the General Manager of Abia State Oil Producing Areas Commission (ASOPADEC) Ven. Dr. Joshua Onyeike to urgently come to their rescue of being cut off from the rest of state.

The community said that their only motorable access road, Umuada – Ezendioma Road, under construction since the second quarter of last year has remained uncompleted.

They stated all through the last dry season (November 2024 – January 2025), nothing was done on the road, but just a few weeks ago, the contractor handling the road from no where started grading and pouring of laterite on the road.

In a statement signed by the Chairman, Ipu East Autonomous Community Development Committee, Mr. Onyeonoro Nwankwo and the Youth Leader, , Mr. Nwachukwu, Polycarp Ifeanyi said that the action of the contractor has worsened the state of the road and made it impassable, particularly with the advent of rain.
according to them, the road is no longer safe and accessible after a heavy downpour, a few days ago, made it difficult for both human and vehicular movements impossible into the community.
