Super Eagles goalkeeper, Francis Uzoho, has said that he is not under pressure whatsoever to emulate the past deed of his predecessors.
The Deportivo La Coruna’s reserve goalkeeper says he stays calm in spite of huge expectations.
Uzoho also praised Iceland for honouring Carl Ikem.
He spoke on the challenges Nigerian players face at the pre-match press conference in Volgograd on Thursday.
“Well, I don’t let the history of the past goalkeepers in the Nigerian senior national team to get to me. That’s how I try to overcome the pressure,” Uzoho said.
“I know what Nigeria expects from their goalkeepers. I just try not let it get to me. To me, the gesture of the Iceland team towards Ikeme is nice.
“I don’t know and I can’t tell if there’s about challenges Nigerian players face. For me, I am here and I played in the U17 FIFA World Cup, as well as Iheanacho.
“It depends on how you keep developing. If you develop well enough, you will be given a chance with the senior national team.
“It’s very important game for both teams. A difficult and nice game for both sides.
“Like you said, we are known for offensive play, as a team, we are going to try our best to win the game and let see what comes out of the game as well.”
