Rotary promotes healthy living, donates water purifiers to schools in Umuahia

Rotary Club of Umuahia District 9142 in partnership with Sisters of St. Joseph College Orange, Canada has donated respectively four water purifier and ten Dictionaries to equip the libraries of Federal Government Girls, and Immaculate conception seminary Ahiaeke, Umuahia, Abia State.

Speaking during the presentations, the Project Chairman of the Club, Rtn Ugochukwu Ajawara, said the donation was made so that the Students will have safe water.

 

He said that the microbial filter system will make water more cleaner for the students.

He said that the dictionary will help enhance the knowledge of the students.

Speaking also, Rotarian Chinedu Brown, explained that Rotary is about humanitarian service, embracing tenaciously its four ways test.

She encouraged them to join the Rotary, Rotaract and Interact Clubs to positively affect lives.

Earlier in her speech, Rotarian Temitope Nnaomah, the President of the Club, described Rotary as a Club that goes about doing good and affecting communities in its domain positively.

Responding, Rev Fr Dr. Emmanuel Ikechukwu Aguiyi, Rector of Immaculate conception seminary, Ahiaeke Umuahia, commended the Rotary Club of Umuahia for the kind gesture and further revealed that the school have Policy of zero tolerance on exam malpractice.

The Rev Fr. lso disclosed that the school preaches zero tolerance to exam malpractice.

In his address, the Senior Perfect of the School, Master Ugorji Mark appreciated the Rotary Club of Umuahia and partners for providing them with two microbial water filters and Dictionaries.

Ugorji who highlighted that the Immaculate conception seminary Ahiaeke has been into existence since 1960, further said that the seminary has four pillars of formation; Spiritual Intellectual, Pastoral and Human formations, these are formation, the key foundation for training the future priests of the diocese, although minor seminarians who receive this formation are expected to become priest it is quite pertinent to note, that this great seminary has produced many great personnel in the society.

Also responding in her school shortly after receiving the donations from the Club, Mrs Idika Kalu Ngozi, College Director Principal, Federal Government Girls College, Umuahia, described it as a surprise to both the students, staff and core management of the school.

In her appreciation one of the student of FGGC who spoke on behalf Students, Miss Madu Varo Ngozi, thanked the Rotary Club of Umuahia and their partner for remembering their school for this kind gesture.

She further stated that the Microbial Water Filter given to them will help reduce the water born disease as well to have a very healthy living and assured them they will make very good use of items to given them.
