Rotary Club Umuahia North Installs New President

President of Rotary Club of Umuahia North, District 9142, Rtn. Ibiloye Oluwadamilare Jonathan has expressed the readiness of his administration to provide job-ready skills training to the nation’s tremendous talent pool of youth. Rtn. Ibiloye made this expression yesterday during his installation as 8th President of Rotary Club of Umuahia North at the Wonderland Event Centre, Isicourt Aba Road, Umuahia, Abia State.

Presenting a maiden address during the event, Rtn. Ibiloye, who believed that Umuahia, Abia State and Nigeria in general has immense potential to become a worldwide technology powerhouse, believed that with the implementation of skilling projects, the nation’s skill gap revealed in her growing access to foreign education and online skill training, would be addressed.

To this end, he has announced that plans are underway to donate 100 Computer desks and Networking training at the Anglican Grammar School, Mbawsi, Isiala Ngwa North at the cost of 13 million Naira (N13m). Rtn. Ibiloye, further disclosed that his administration would also provide toilet facility with borehole at Ahia Ukwu Market, Olokoro in Umuahia South L.G.A, which will cost N8m; donate insecticides, treated mosquito nets at various health centres in the State, which will take N500,000 to execute and the donation of personal protective equipment to the Federal Medical Centre at N2.5m.

He said that Rotary International has recorded scores in the area of promoting peace, fighting life-threatening diseases, provision of clean water and safe sanitation services, supporting education, and growing local economies, among other services.

His words, “I find it a rare privilege to have been found worthy to take up the mantle of leadership of our Club as the 8th President. For me, this is a task I’m totally committed to giving my best in ensuring our community feels the impact of the Rotary Club of Umuahia North.

“Rotary International as one of the earliest and most people oriented organizations in the world, we are known for our dedication and commitment to building national and International relationships”.

Earlier in a valedictory speech, the outgoing Synergizer President of the Club, Rtn. Geraldine Onuorah, who appreciated Club members for their support, said that her led administration ensured that the Club’s community service projects touched all the areas of Rotary focus, Water and Sanitation, Peace building and conflict resolution, Basic Education and literacy, Maternal and Child health, Disease prevention and treatment, the environment, Community and economic development.

“It was an eventful year and more interestingly we deepened the friendship amongst us by making every meeting fun”, she said, even as she promised to support the new president to succeed.
