The newly installed President of Rotary Club of Umuahia North Local Government Area, District 9142, Nigeria, Rotarian Ekele Ochiabuto, has reiterated the group’s commitment to continuously engage in projects that meet the challenges of the society.
Rotr. Ochiabuto, disclosed this recently, during his installation as the Rotary connect 2019/2020 President at Kolping Society, Umuahia, Abia State.
While commending the club for its selfless service, commitment and sacrifice to humanity, he further congratulated the immediate past president , Mr Michael Ibegbulam, for his board’s successful tenure, while urging him to be of assistance to his board during his tenure.
Elaborating more on the 2019/2020 Rotary year theme,” Rotary connects the world”, Rotr. Ochiabuto, stated that the theme is aimed at connecting the world through selfless services.
“Rotary allows us to connect with one another, in deep and meaningful ways, across our differences”,he stated.
He urged all to ensure they make lives better for all the less privileged, and the indigent, as well.
The president further charged all to help in sustaining and improving the other areas of focus of Rotary International which include, Peace and conflict preventions/resolution in communities, disease prevention and treatment, water sanitation, maternal and child health,basic education and literacy, economic and community development,among others.

Rotr. Ochiabuto, further called for all hands to be on deck, to better the lots of the society and connect the World with selfless services.
Earlier in his address, the immediate past president, Rotary Club, Umuahia North L.G.A, Rotr. Michael Ibegbulam, outlined, among his achievements during his tenure to include special visits, scholarships, adding that the Umuahia North Rotary club is not owing the District.
In her lecture entitled, “connecting the World through the Four way test”, the assistant rotary public image coordinator, Zone 22A (EN), 2018-2021, Rotr. Onyinye Ralph-Nwachukwu, stated that Rotary is an international service organization, where its members are global citizens of the World.
She maintained that the four way test of Rotary Club should be their watch word, charging them to live above board.
One of the inductees, Mr Ibiloye Dare Jonathan, on behalf of others, stated that he is overwhelmed, being among the inductees, while promising to work as a team to ensure that Rotary club, gets to an enviable height.
The event featured, launching of service projects, inauguration of the Board of Directors and new members, conferment of award of Humanitarian service to the Rector, Abia state College of Eduction Arochukwu, Dr. Philips Nto, the regional manager Unity Bank South East region, Dr Clifford Agbaeze; selfless service award to Uche Ugochi Confidence of Traffic and Indiscipline Management Agency(TIMASS), among others.
Other dignatries present at the event include, the Abia state Head of service, Sir Onyii Wamah, the General Manager, Abia Newpapers and Publishing Corporation, Prince Tony Onyeomereneche, the former chairman, Local Government Service Commission, HRH Dan Egbeogu, among others.
