Road Safety, Vital for Success – Prof. Kalu

The safety of lives and property of the citizens has been identified as very vital for the success of any Government.

The Secretary to Abia State Government, Professor Kenneth Kalu, who stated this when the sector commander Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC), Abia command,  Paul Ugwu and his team visited him in his office, added that the important role the  corps plays in securing lives and property cannot be over  emphasized.

Prof Kalu maintained that the present administration is focused and will continue to collaborate with them, even as he wished the sector commander well as he retires meritoriously by next month.

Speaking earlier, the Sector Commander, FRSC, Abia State, Paul Ugwu, who said that the corps is saddled with the responsibility of reducing the rate of traffic crashes and strict adherence to road safety measures, stated that plans are on board for the establishment of two additional area Commands in the state for rapid response to traffic and road emergencies.

Ugwu, however, appealed to Government to construct a pedestal bridge at the Ubakala Junction, provide operational vehicles  for the corps to enhance their operation,  as well as  be included in the state security council.
