Rivers Projects Will Boost Tinubu’s Re-election Prospects – Gov Fubara

Rivers State Governor, Sir Siminalayi Fubara, has said the performance of his administration and ongoing development projects across the state would make it easier for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to secure re-election in Rivers State.

Fubara made the statement on Tuesday while commissioning the 5.94-kilometre Ihuowo–Ihuama Ring Road in Ahoada-East Local Government Area, describing the project as a major boost to security, economic growth and community development.

According to the governor, the road has transformed an area once notorious for kidnapping and other criminal activities.

“This corridor used to be a death trap where criminal activities thrived. Today, criminals have no hiding place, and our people can move freely and safely,” Fubara said.

He thanked residents of Ahoada-East for their support and assured them that his administration would continue to respond promptly to the needs of communities, stressing that governance under his leadership is focused on public interest rather than personal gain.

Fubara said his administration aims to be remembered for simplicity, responsiveness and effective service delivery, adding that such visible achievements would strengthen political alignment with the Federal Government.

The governor also expressed gratitude to his mentor and former Rivers State Accountant-General, Sir Ngozi Abu, noting that the successful completion of the road reflected the values and professional guidance he received over the years.

Responding to requests from the traditional ruler of Upata Kingdom, HRM Eze Felix Otuwarikpo, Fubara pledged that the state government would address community challenges to improve the quality of life of residents. He urged the people to support national development efforts and rally behind President Tinubu’s re-election.

Providing technical details, the Permanent Secretary of the Rivers State Ministry of Works, Dr Austin Ezekiel-Hart, said the road project, executed by Darycet International Limited, features reinforced concrete drains, multiple asphalt layers and a stabilized sub-base designed to enhance durability, safety and connectivity.

Chairman of Ahoada-East Local Government Area, Hon. Solomon Abuba Ochoma, described the road as a catalyst for economic growth, saying it would reduce travel time and improve access for farmers, traders and commuters. He called on the state government to extend the road through Odiabidi, Okoma One and Okoma Two to create a continuous economic corridor.
