Rivers Political Crisis Deepens, as Many Commissioners Resign

The Rivers State Political Crisis between Governor Siminalayi Fubara and his godfather and predecessor Barr. Nyesom Wike deepens, the recent development is the massive resignation of Commissioners appointed by the out gone Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike.

A close source revealed that the massive resignation is an indication that Governor Fubara is trying to lay off members of his cabinet who were appointed by the FCT Minister.

Another source claims that it was the FCT Minister that instructed his loyalists serving under Fubara administration to put up their resignation.

To this end, the first to resign on Thursday 14th December 2023 was the Attorney General and Commissioner of Justice for the State Prof. Zacchaeus Adango, SAN.

Commissioner for Special Project, Chief Emeka Woke, equally resigned are Commissioner for Works, DAX George Kelly, Commissioner for Finance, Isaac Kamalu, Commissioner for Social Welfare and Rehabilitation Inimie Aguma.

It is to be noted that Kelly George’s remark in his resignation letter was heart touching when he said that his decision to resign was borne out of conscience and ethics which according to him was taken after deep introspect.

Dr, Jacobson B. Nbina, Commissioner for Transport tendered his resignation stating that his reason was personal stating, “Please accept the assurance of my esteemed regards”.
Austen Ben- Chioma, Commissioner for Environment put up his resignation as well as Commissioner for Housing Hon. Gift O. Worlu, including Hon. Marshall Obuzor, Eng. Charles Amadi and many others as ordered by Barr. Wike and in preparation to join APC.
