Dr. Roseline Apawari Uranta, the commissioner for women’s affairs for the state of Rivers, has requested that the federal government and donor organizations treat Rivers State as a unique circumstance when providing intervention funding.
When a group from the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, Cares Coordinating Programme called to say hello, Dr. Uranta responded, “Your visit, I am informed, is based on the fact that the State Care Coordinating Unit is doing well in service delivery, hence our State is visited.”
According to Elder Omini Ayo-Tamuno, the Special Assistant (SA) on Media, Publicity, and Protocol to the Commissioner, she gave assurance that the State Government, led by Sir Siminalayi Fubara, “is devoted to the welfare need of our citizens that is demonstrated in his first 100 days in office.
The State would always be welcoming to visitors because it is the nation’s treasure base.
The COVID-19 Economic Recovery Stimulus was implemented in all the States of the Federation, and the Commissioner praised those responsible for it, noting that it somewhat decreased the degree of poverty.
“The number of individuals living in poverty will continue to rise. The current administration will make every effort to permanently alter the narratives, she vowed.
The Commissioner was praised in the speech by the State Technical Head of the Cares Coordinating Unit, Mrs. Imaonyari Ephraim-George, for receiving the delegation on such short notice.
The comity of people, she observed,
She stated that the Rivers States had performed admirably among the other States, and “I am not surprised the FCT Office picked the State.”
She said that as a significant partner in the project, the Ministry of Women Affairs housed three delivery units: the Livelihood Grant, the Social Transfer, and the Road Maintenance.
Later, Mr. Uba A. Bala, the leader of the Federal Capital Territory in Abuja, revealed that they were in the State to observe how the State Unit operated with the goal of enhancing their office in Abuja.
For the three days the delegation spent in the State, according to Mr. Bala, it had been a rewarding experience.
