Moved by the increased number of recorded cases of Corona virus in Rivers State, the state government has inaugurate a committee responsible for sensitization and Enlightment on the pandemic from street to another.
Speaking at the inauguration of the Team at the State Secretariat Complex, on Wednesday, Chairman of the Rivers State Government Interministarial Committee on COVID-19 Enlightenment, Pastor Paulinus Nsirim, who also is the Commissioner for Information and Communications charged the Team to be more committed to this task in the same mind as that of the State Governor, Nyesom Wike, which is to save lives.
Pastor Nsirim, who also is the State,urged them to put in their best in discharging their duties to ensure the safety of lives during this season.
“As a State we are recording new cases of coronavirus and the only alternative left for us now is to move from street to street to pass prevention messages to our people.
“You need to let the people know that the virus is with us and that they must practice social distancing, wearing of face mask and maintenance of personal hygiene”, he stated.
More so, Nsirim directed Rivers people to always seek for medical attention whenever they notices any symptoms of the virus like dry cough, high temperature, loss of taste, body weakness and difficulty in breathing; adding that corona virus is not a death sentence, the symptoms of disease should not inflict fear in them.
He commended Governor Wike for committing his time and resources to the people of the state; noting that there’s no State in this country where a Governor has spearheaded the fight against coronavirus like our Governor has done.
