Rivers Deputy Governor Seeks Partnership with WACCIMA on Women’s Economic Empowerment

Rivers State Deputy Governor, Prof. Ngozi Nma Odu, has assured members of the Women Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture (WACCIMA) of her readiness to partner with them to advance women’s economic empowerment in the state.

Prof. Odu gave the assurance on Tuesday while receiving a delegation of the Rivers/Bayelsa Chapter of WACCIMA at Government House, Port Harcourt.

She urged women to rally round and support women in leadership in order to create lasting change and inspire future generations.

The deputy governor also congratulated Dr. Chinyere Nwoga on her emergence as the first female President of the Port Harcourt Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture (PHCCIMA) since its inception.

According to her, Dr. Nwoga now carries the responsibility of setting a strong example and demonstrating the capabilities of women in leadership positions.

Prof. Odu expressed delight that women are increasingly supporting one another, noting that the era when women failed to back themselves has passed.

“Our priority is to keep impacting lives, no matter how small. The moment you improve the capacity of women, whether rural or working-class women, you build their confidence and they begin to excel in what they do,” she said.

Earlier, the leader of the delegation and President of PHCCIMA, Dr. Chinyere Nwoga, said the visit was to express solidarity with the leadership of Governor Siminalayi Fubara, which she said has continued to foster peace, stability and strengthen investors’ confidence in Rivers State.

She commended the deliberate efforts of the Fubara-led administration in infrastructure development, human capital advancement, security and economic diversification.

Nwoga noted that these initiatives align with the objectives of the Port Harcourt Chamber, the Women Chamber and the Niger Delta Chamber of Commerce in promoting economic growth and business development in the region.
