Resident doctors declare indefinite strike

Resident Doctors in Nigeria has embarked on an indefinite strike after rejecting offers made to it by the Federal Government.

The doctors announced their decision to go on strike this morning in Abuja.

The National Association of Resident Doctors, NARD, had met with the Minister of Labour and Employment, Chris Ngige and that of Health, Prof. Isaac Adewole, last week, with government making some offers which they rejected.

A terse statement signed the NARD President, Dr. Onyebueze John in Abuja read, “Rising from our NEC meeting, which started by 7pm yesterday and ended 3am today. NARD has resolved to reject the promissory offer from Government, and proceed on total and indefinite strike action until all items in her demand list for strike action are resolved by Government.”
