Here are the gladiators: European countries made up 50% of the teams that will slug it out in the round of 16: Netherlands, England, Poland, France, Spain, Croatia, Portugal and Switzerland.
Africa has two teams: Interestingly both are lions – Teranga Lions of Senegal and Atlas Lions of Morocco.
Asia is hosting this World Cup and as such Asian countries have pulled out stunning results. Saudi Arabia defeated Argentina 2-1, Japan defeated Germany and Spain by the same margin respectively, Iran defeated Wales 2-0 and South Korea defeated Portugal 2-1.
Therefore, it is not surprising that three Asian teams made the last 16: South Korea, Japan and Australia.
Surprisingly, only Argentina and Brazil made the round of 16 from South America.
The USA are the only North American country still in the World Cup.
