The Federation of International Football Federation has held the draws for the Qatar 2022 World Cup. The colorful occasion which took place in Doha was attended by 2,000 guests.
The draws were led by Carli Lloyd, Jermaine Jenas and Samantha Johnson, was assisted by the likes of Cafu of Brazil), Lothar Matthaus of Germany, Adel Ahmed MalAllah of Qatar, Ali Daei of Iran, Bora Milutinovic, the coach that led the Super Eagles to the France 98 World Cup, Jay-Jay Okocha of Nigeria, Rabah Madjer of Algeria and Tim Cahill of Australia.
Host Qatar will play in Group A against Ecuador, Africa champions, Senegal and the Netherlands while Three Lions of England will face Iran, the United States of America and a team from the European play-offs in Group B.
Group C comprises of two time champions, Argentina, Saudi Arabia, Mexico and Poland while defending champions France will take on Tunisia, Denmark and one other team from the international play-offs.
Group E has 2010 champions Spain, 2014 and four time champions, Germany, Japan and one of Costa Rica or New Zealand.
Belgium, Canada, Morocco and Croatia will lurk horns in Group F as five time champions, Brazil tread tackles with Serbia, Switzerland and Cameroon in Group G.
Black Stars of Ghana who stopped Nigeria from qualifying will face Uruguay in Group H. Recall that it were the South Americans that stopped the West Africans from reaching the semi-finals in 2010 in South Africa. Other teams in the group are Ronaldo’s Portugal and South Korea.
