Croatia are re-inacting their 2018 outing which saw them eliminate Denmark in the round of 16 and host Russia in the quarter final through penalties.
Having earlier eliminated Japan on penalties in the round of 16, they have now eliminated Brazil.
After a goalless full time, Tite’s men thought they have won it in extra time when Neymar scored a thumping effort to equal Brazil’s ‘official’ men’s goalscoring record.
But substitute Bruno Petkovic had other ideas, stroking in a 116th-minute equaliser with Croatia’s first shot on target in the match to take the game to the nerve-shredding shootout.
Croatia will face the winner between Argentina and Netherlands for a place in the final.
