Morocco have qualified for the quarter final of the on going World Cup after defeating 2010 champions, Spain 3-0 on penalties after full and extra time had ended goalless.
The Africans allowed the Europeans to do the playing while they hit them on counter-attack. The statistics show that Morocco did more of defending. Spain had 77% possession as against Morocco’s 23.
Spain had nine corners but Morocco had none. Nevertheless, Morocco created better clear-cut chances, two as against Spain’s one.
Morocco have joined Cameroon, Senegal and Ghana as the only African teams to reach the World Cup quarter final.
Morocco will face the winner between Portugal and Switzerland on Saturday.
