Public, private schools resume in PortHarcourt

Public and private primary and secondary schools in Rivers State resumes academic activities today.
Schools are returning from the first term holiday to continue the second term in the 2018/2019 uniform school calendar, released by the Rivers State Ministry Of Education. The schools observed 3 weeks holiday which started on the 14th December 2018 and ended midnight 6th January 2019. Pupils, students, and teachers are expected to report to class today.

Meanwhile, Rivers State Commissioner Of Education Tamuno C. C Gogo Jaja has called for immediate commencement of academic activities as school resumes for second term today. Dr Gogo Jaja who made this Call in an interview with our reporters, said the essence is to ensure that the uniform academic calendar is maintained.

” we expect that all our schools resumes on Monday, both private and public schools. We expect that all our teachers will be on duty post on Monday. For a very long time now, as soon as schools resume, our teachers are always at duty post. In some cases we start teaching at the first day of resumption,which has never been. And therefore we wish to encourage parents to ensure that their wards must be in school by Monday. We also wish to encourage our teachers, and urge all schools to ensure that there is school on Monday ” he stated.
