PTI Seeks Strategic Partnership With Delta State On Youth Oil & Gas Training…As Governor Oborevwori Donates Buses To Institute

The Petroleum Training Institute (PTI), Effurun, has expressed its readiness to collaborate with the Delta State Government on specialized oil and gas training programmes aimed at equipping youths with globally relevant, employable skills to drive inclusive economic growth in the state.

Speaking during a courtesy visit to Governor Sheriff Oborevwori at Government House, Asaba, on Tuesday, the Principal and Chief Executive Officer of PTI, Dr. Samuel Onoji, said the Institute was committed to offering subsidised international oil and gas training programmes targeted at youth empowerment.

He praised Governor Oborevwori’s administration for its achievements in infrastructure development, which he described as “unprecedented in the history of the state.”

“We are committed to building partnerships that will empower the next generation. With your administration’s youth-focused agenda, we believe this collaboration can position Delta as a training and innovation hub for the energy sector,” Onoji said.

Dr. Onoji also appreciated the state government for restoring electricity supply to the PTI campus and extended a formal invitation to the Governor to attend the International Hydrocarbons and Scientific Conference scheduled for October at the PTDF Hall in Abuja.

Responding, Governor Oborevwori commended PTI’s long-standing role in technical manpower development for Nigeria’s oil and gas industry. He also acknowledged the support of the Federal Ministry of Petroleum and the Minister, Senator Heineken Lokpobiri, for releasing 25 hectares of land to the Delta State Government.

 “PTI is very dear to us in Delta because it opened the door for other federal government establishments to come into our state. We don’t take anything concerning PTI lightly,” the Governor said.

“Your visit today is a demonstration of your commitment, and I assure you that this government will continue to support the Institute in all its endeavours.”

In demonstration of his administration’s support, Governor Oborevwori approved the donation of two buses a Coaster Bus and an 18-seater Toyota Hiace to assist the Institute with its staff and student mobility needs.

Established in 1972, PTI remains Africa’s foremost institution mandated to train skilled manpower for the oil, gas, and allied sectors.
