The Abia State Commissioner for Health, Prof. Enoch Ogbonnaya Uche has commended the people of Nenu community in Obingwa Local Government Area of the state for taking it upon themselves to erect a befitting hospital for the people
The commissioner was speaking during a facility tour of the Nenu General Hospital, even as he described what he saw as highly commendable stating that the community is proactive by wanting to partner with the state government
He disclosed that he was sent by the state governor as part of his vision to ensure that every part of the state has access to quality, accessible and affordable healthcare, explaining that they came to evaluate the facilities here at Nenu, which is one of the designated communities for the establishment of a healthcare center under project Ekwu Eme in which the government wants to repair 200 hospitals within 100 days.
According to the Commissioner, what they met at Nenu as an already standing hospital ecosystem and states further that what his ministry wants to do is to integrate efforts of government with what Nenu people have done
He disclosed that the team went round and saw the structures and facilities as well as seen where government can come in, saying it is going to be a collaboration between the state government and the people to ensure they deliver on his mandate and ensure that this facility is not just completely renovated to the standard that the state wishes to have, but to be put in use for the benefit of the general public.
While promising to align with the Nenu community to ensure that the standard as envisioned by Governor Otti, is achieved he commended Comrade Chris Akomas and the Nenu people for what they have done, assuring that the governor means business of bequeathing a healthcare that takes care of everyone
In his remarks while receiving the team, the erstwhile deputy governor of Abia State went down memory lane on how and why his community embarked on the hospital project, even as he expressed gratitude to Gov. Alex Otti for his magnanimity in partnering with them in his quest to bequeath a healthcare system that can be trusted, and for the benefits of all Abians.
He pledged the support and partnership of the people of Nenu until the project is fully achieved, hundred percent, even as he expressed gratitude to his kinsmen for their patient and support all through these years.
When the Nenu General Hospital which already has a multi collaborating units, is completed, the whole of Obingwa and its environs will be coming here to access quality healthcare even as it should be a model for other communities to emulate , to work hand in gloves with government to achieve the visions and aspirations of the governor.
