The outgoing Chief of Staff to the Governor, Prof ACB Agbazuere has officially handed over to his successor, Chief Okey Ahaiwe.
Speaking during the official handover ceremony at Government House Umuahia,Prof Agbazuere noted that his resignation was in adherence to the directive for political office holders willing to participate in the 2023 electoral process to resign adding that he resigned as a result of his intention to contest for the House of Representatives for Isialangwa North and South Federal Constituency.
Agbazuere further noted that his decision was borne out of the desire to contribute to the development of his constituency to churn out laws that would better the lives of his people and Nigerians in general.
He said, “In pursuant to the fact that i am now running for Member, House of Representatives from my place, and given the uncertainties of Section 84, sub section 12 of the electoral act of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, the political parties in Nigeria decided to direct every person with the intention to run for office to resign.
“As a person who does not prefer personal interest to public interest, given the fact that I am confident that on that platform, i will serve a greater part of my constituency, Isiala Ngwa North and South Federal Constituency, Abia State, Ndi igbo and indeed Nigeria by skewing out laws for our people”.
Agbazuere who described the new Chief of Staff,as a good man and great Patriot of God and humanity,expressed belief that he would do well in his new assignment.
He however advised the new Chief of Staff to the Governor to work closely with the various Heads of Department at Government House Umuahia for a smooth running of government activities.
Agbazuere expressed hope that the new Chief of Staff to the Governor would experience a good working relationship with the staff and Management of Government House Umuahia and called for prayers to enable him succeed.
On his part, the New Chief of Staff to the Governor, Chief Okey Ahaiwe while thanking Governor Okezie Ikpeazu for the opportunity given him to serve the state, assured that he would work together as a team with the Management and staff the corporation of Staff and Management of Government House Umuahia to enable him succeed.
He thanked prof Agbazuere for the warm welcome accorded him, and wished him success in his political ambition.
The Permanent Secretary, Government House and the Managements Staff of Government House Umuahia were present during the handover ceremony.
