President Tinubu Appoints Zaccheus Adedeji as FIRS’ Acting Chairman

President Bola Tinubu has granted his approval for the appointment of Zaccheus Adedeji as the newly appointed acting Executive Chairman of the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS).

A statement released by Ajuri Ngelale, the President’s Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, indicates that Mr. Muhammad Nami, the former FIRS Chairman, has been directed by the President to commence a three-month pre-retirement leave in accordance with Public Service Rule (PSR) 120243, effective immediately.

The presidency has specified that this pre-retirement leave will ultimately lead to Mr. Nami’s retirement from service on December 8, 2023.

“Hon. Zacch Adedeji is hereby appointed in acting capacity for a 90-day period before his subsequent confirmation as the substantive Executive Chairman of the Federal Inland Revenue Service for a term of four (4) years in the first instance,” the statement read.

Hon. Zacch Adedeji, a distinguished first-class graduate in accounting from the Obafemi Awolowo University, has most recently served the nation as the Special Adviser to the President on Revenue. His impressive track record also includes significant roles as the Oyo State Commissioner of Finance and as the Executive Secretary/CEO of the National Sugar Development Council (NSDC).
