In a colorful and solemn service held on Sunday, the Presbyterian Church of Nigeria, Aba Synod, hosted a grand investiture and inauguration ceremony for Ezinna Chief Dr. Jerry O. Kalu, who was officially appointed as the Chairman of the Aba Synod Brigade Patrons Forum.
The ceremony, which took place at St. Paul’s Presbyterian Church, Ogbor Hill Parish, drew dignitaries, church leaders, brigade members, and well-wishers from across Abia State, underscoring the importance of the event to both the church and the wider community.
The Governor of Abia State, Dr. Alex Otti, represented by his Deputy, Engr. Ikechukwu Emetu, congratulated Dr. Kalu on his investiture, describing it as a recognition of his steadfast faith, exemplary service, and outstanding contributions to the Church and society.
“This honor is a testament to your unwavering faith in God, your exceptional commitment to service, and your generous contributions to the growth of the Church and the advancement of humanity,” the Governor stated.
Governor Otti praised Dr. Kalu’s leadership qualities and his dedication to the moral and spiritual development of young people, emphasizing the urgent need for positive role models in today’s society.
“As you assume this new office, you do so at a time when our society is in dire need of leaders who exemplify integrity, discipline, and devotion. I am confident that under your leadership, the Aba Synod Brigade will become a beacon of hope, deepening evangelism, nurturing spiritual growth, and strengthening character development,” he added.
He further assured the Church of the Abia State Government’s continued support:
“The government and people of Abia State are proud of your achievements. We stand with you in prayers and in support as you begin this new chapter of service.”
In his response, Ezinna Chief Dr. Jerry O. Kalu expressed heartfelt gratitude to the Governor and state leadership for their support. He dedicated the honor to God and pledged to serve with humility and diligence.
“I sincerely thank the Government of Abia State, ably led by His Excellency, Dr. Alex Otti, for celebrating with us today. I pray for God’s guidance as I take on this sacred assignment,” he said.
The investiture marked a significant moment for the Presbyterian Church of Nigeria, as it continues to strengthen leadership and youth engagement through the Presbyterian Brigade, a platform committed to instilling discipline, faith, and a spirit of service in young people.
Highlights of the service include: Two scriptural readings were featured during the service — Genesis 18:16–19, read by Dr. Jerry O. Kalu, and Acts 18:24–28, read by Deputy Governor Engr. Ikechukwu Emetu, representing Governor Otti.
