Positive Growth, Excellence In Education Sector Remain Gov. Otti’s Top Priority – Engr Emetu

One of the top priorities of Dr Alex Otti’s led administration remains the positive growth and excellence of the School of Basic Midwifery, Umuahia and other Institutions across Abia State.

The Deputy Governor of Abia State, Engr. Ikechukwu Emetu represented by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr Chukwudi Eke Mba Engr Emetu disclosed this during the commissioning of a water project and renovation of student’s Toilets by the Student Union Government of School of Basic Midwifery, Amachara, Umuahia. He maintained that water is not only a basic need of mankind but a necessity the present administration will pursue vigorously.

Mr Chukwudi Eke Mba described the projects embarked upon by the Student Union Government led by Comrade Michael Nwokeoma as the right step aimed at providing a safe accessible water supply and safe sanitization facilities that help prevent the spread of diseases within the school and the surrounding country as well as address proper disposition of their waste products appropriately.

He commended the Principals of Nursing unit, Mrs Vivian Okoro and her Midwifery counterpart, Mrs Amarachi Okorie and the entire Management of the Institution for their emulative administrative administration prowess and resounding academic excellence within the school and beyond.

In his remarks, the Chief Of Staff To The Governor, Pastor Caleb Ajaegbu represented by the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Special Duties, Dr George Chidozie described the Nursing Profession as a noble one that comes with dignity and encouraged the students to take their studies seriously.

Also speaking, the Commissioner for Health, Dr Ngozi Okoronkwo represented by The Director Of Nursing Services Abia State, Mrs Nwakaego Onyeukwu urged the Students to brace up for change and desist from any form of retrogressive move such as exam malpractice pointing out that the main thrust of the administration of Dr Alex Otti is to ensure that there is positive change in the Health sector.

In his address earlier, the SUG President, Comrade Michael Nwokeoma listed some of the projects they executed including the drilling of a water borehole, construction of a 25ft Tank stand, procurement of four 750 liters Geepee Tanks, construction of 3-way water Taps and renovation of the student’s toilets aimed at making life better for the students and commended the wonderful encouragements from the school management.
