Port Harcourt road:Gov Ikpeazu assures speedy completion.

Governor Okezie Ikpeazu has reassured Abians that his administration will hit the ground running to ensure speedy completion of the ongoing Port Harcourt road Aba.
This is contrary to allegations by the opposition that the Abia State government will abandon the construction of the road project.
Speaking when he inspected the progress of work at the Portharcourt road Aba, Governor Ikpeazu said, “our critics admitted that we did a lot of work in our first tenure and their campaign and propaganda was that we are going to slow down but I want to assure you that we will even run faster this time.
“This is one of our flagship projects and we are going to deliver it on time, this will put a lie to those who thought that we are going to slow down”.
Ikpeazu, while noting that the road is a strategic road which is of great  economic importance to the state, said his administration embarked on the road project to uplift the living standard of the people.
“This is a strategic economic road. It is a major exit route and it is supposed to be a federal government concern but there are no federal government citizens that is why we decided to embark on it.
“This road is one of our biggest projects and beyond that, there is an industrial cluster around here that handles fabrication of metal works so we know that opening up this road will improve the economy of Abians”,he said.
The Governor commended the contractor handling the project for the pace and quality of work at the site adding that the road when completed will stand the test of time.
He  thanked Abians for the confidence reposed in him and assured that he will not disappoint them.
As at the time of filling this report, 80% of the entire drainage on the Port Harcourt road has been completed.
Governor Ikpeazu also inspected the ongoing work at the Opobo by Emelogu road.
