POLY Rector Receives SDA Delegation, Earns Praise

The Aba South Conference of the Seventh-day Adventist (SDA) Church has praised the Rector of Ogbonnaya Onu Polytechnic, Aba, Engr. Dr. Christopher Okoro Kalu, for the major improvements taking place in the school.

A delegation led by Pst. Dr. J. A. Ukeagbu visited the Rector on Tuesday. During the visit, Ukeagbu said the team was impressed by the “visible changes” across the polytechnic. He commended the Rector’s “can-do spirit” and his efforts to reposition the institution for excellence.

Ukeagbu listed some achievements of the current administration, such as clearing salary arrears owed to staff for 10 years and taking strong steps to stop the exploitation of students. He also appreciated the support of Governor Alex Otti, whom he noted is a proud member of the SDA Church.

The delegation then requested a permanent worship centre for SDA students at the Osisioma Campus to support their spiritual growth and moral development.

In his response, Dr. Okoro thanked the delegation for the visit and assured them that his administration will continue to support all genuine worship groups on campus. He emphasized the need to guide young people spiritually because they will become future leaders.

“If we fail to give them a solid foundation, it will affect us all,” he said.

The Rector also shared that a large piece of land has already been set aside at the Osisioma Campus for student fellowship activities, including those of the SDA Church. “We have mapped out a big portion of land for true worship,” he confirmed.

The visit ended with the SDA delegation promising to support the Rector’s vision and praying for more success for the institution.
