Police Disburse ₦184.8m to Families of Fallen Officers at National Police Day

The Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Rilwan Disu, has presented cheques totaling ₦184,889,087 to 16 beneficiaries, including next-of-kin of officers who died in the line of duty, under the Group Life Assurance Scheme.

The presentation was carried out on behalf of the IGP by Deputy Inspector-General of Police, Sulaiman M. Abdul, at the Force Headquarters in Abuja as part of activities marking the 2026 National Police Day celebration.

The solemn ceremony highlighted the commitment of the Nigeria Police Force to honouring the sacrifices of its personnel and providing support to the families of officers who lost their lives or sustained injuries while serving the nation.

Speaking during the event, the IGP noted that no financial compensation can truly replace the lives lost in the line of duty, but reaffirmed the Force’s responsibility to care for the families left behind.

He described the gesture as a symbol of remembrance, gratitude, and institutional support, assuring beneficiaries that the sacrifices of their loved ones would never be forgotten.

The event was attended by senior police officers, beneficiaries, and other stakeholders who gathered to witness the presentation and pay tribute to the courage and dedication of the nation’s fallen officers.
