Parents and guardians have been advised to ensure their children and wards remain good ambassadors; through exhibition of good characters and morals imbibed in them, while they were in school.
Speaking on behalf of the chairman, while giving his opening remarks, during the 13th graduation and prize giving ceremony of St. George’s Academy, held in Umuahia, recently, Pastor Possible Sunday, who commended the school for their efforts in ensuring the pupils get the best education, also urged parents to ensure those legacies implanted in them, do not go to waste.
In his address, Dr. Chimdi Felix Igbudu, on behalf of the management, said that a transformative education is a candle that will light the paths when darkness shows its ugly face.
He added that the school is providing ,through education, a key that will open the doors of despair,strengthen hope and restore dignity in a dying world.
He stated that the school is academically sound and has participated in so many competitions which include, Annual National Mathematics Competition, Literacy Giants Foundation Reading Competition, Academic Star Mathematics Competition in 2020, in which they took the 2nd position. He said that a modern and comfortable school bus has also been recently produced by school, to ensure smooth school bus services.
Igbudu, however, said that new teaching styles had been introduced, and the intellectual foundation, fortified, adding that the management will work closely with parastatals and well meaning individuals in her pursuit for excellence.
Speaking, on behalf of the Nursery 3 graduands, Ikechukwu Destiny, while presenting the address, stated that they can now read English Language fluently and there is improvement in their writings, adding that they’ve learnt table manners, which they greatly observe.
“We dress well, behave modestly and confidently, express ourselves anywhere, anytime. We are grateful to God for seeing us through nursery”, he stated.
In her address, on behalf of the outgoing Primary 5 pupils, Miss Okoro Nmesoma, stated that they all experienced challenges of some kind, which would have made them all give up, and prevented them from graudating from school, she added that they are grateful that they defeated the personal challenges.
“In the course of our studies here, we have undergone drillings,lessons make up classes, excursion tips,online tutorials internal and external competitions and lots more”, she said.
She further commended the proprietress, Mrs. Uchechi Deborah Igbudu, and the school management for their leadership profiency and thanked them for the discipline that they handed out when they needed it.
Speaking with some of the graduands and award recipients, Master Marvellous Ifeanyichukwu, a nursery 3 graduand, Master Chukwuemeka Ogidi the overall best, primary 2, thanked God for His guidance, while advising all to work hard and read their books, to be among the recipients in the next session.
One of the Primary School graduands, who was also awarded best behaved, Miss Idris Azeezat, expressed happiness, being among the graduands, while advising other pupils to focus in their studies, work hard, be obedient to their parents and teachers, to achieve great things in life.
Some of the parents who spoke on anonymity who commended the school management for their efforts advised the school management to look into the school uniform, ensuring that they go for better quality fabrics, than the ones that get won out easily or the sizes that pupils won’t outgrow quickly, furthermore, to also look into the number of pupils in class, avoiding overcrowded classes to avoid distractions which will make it easy for knowledge to be acquired in class.
The programme featured nursery rhymes, debate, calisthenics, beauty pageant, cultural dance, drama, launching of the 12th St. George’s Oracle and 2021/2022 Almanac, presentation of gifts, certificates, awards and scholarship, among others.
